If you are in town to shop, we have two of Australia's largest and most glamorous department stores as our neighbours: David Jones and Myer are literally right next door to the hotel.

We also have some of the country’s most creative fashion designers and boutiques, an amazing array of unique giftware and craft shops, plus a myriad of other fabulous retail stores.  From historic arcades, to modern retail temples and factory outlets, (not to forget the quaint little laneways) Melbourne is undoubtedly the perfect place to spend a day or two in deep retail therapy.

Melbourne City Cuisine…

There are literally hundreds of adorable little bars and restaurants dotted around the city, many of them in obscure and interesting laneways, whilst basements and rooftops tend to be the new spots to “be seen” in.

Whatever takes your fancy, be it Japanese, French, Italian, Tapas, Greek, Thai, African, steak - being literally surrounded by this thriving culinary scene, you will never get bored, hungry or thirsty!

Let Melbourne Entertain…

The National Gallery of Victoria will keep you enthralled for hours, whilst the multitude of small unconventional galleries through the city and inner-suburbs can be equally as impressive. 

For live theatre, Melbourne is usually the premiere city in Australia for the big broadway productions, whilst there are a tonne of independent theatre companies around like St Kilda’s Red Stitch Actors Theatre, staging original plays with a combination of well known actors and up and coming talent in surprisingly intimate settings.

Sporting Melbourne City…

Melburnians love their sport and there’s nothing better than sharing in the excitement and passion of 100,000 fanatics watching an AFL game at the MCG.  And don’t worry, if you don’t understand the rules – the city's atmosphere will carry you along.  

If you like a bit of fashion with your sport, then visit us during the famed Spring Racing Carnival, where the focus is on dressing up as much as it is on the horse racing. 

And there is nothing more thrilling then sitting centre court-side at the Australian Open, just metres from the world’s finest tennis players as they strut their powerful stuff!
